Frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions from Latvian businesses before starting a cooperation with us.
What does workforce staffing cost?
Pricing depends on worker qualification, project length, team size, and industry. We offer a single hourly or daily rate that includes wages, taxes, holidays, sick leave, and full administration. We prepare a specific quote within one business day of your request.
How long until workers can start?
If workers are already in Latvia as part of our standing team — 5 to 7 business days. For Brazilian and Colombian citizens — about 3–4 weeks, because their D-type work visa and residence permit are arranged in Latvia (not at an embassy abroad), since entry uses the Schengen visa-free regime. For India, Nepal and the Philippines — approximately 2–3 months because of the D-type work visa process. For seasonal peaks we plan ahead so people are already in Latvia when you need them.
From which countries does SPEKANOMA source workers for Latvia?
SPEKANOMA sources workers from two main regions: Latin America — Brazil and Colombia (machinery operators, construction workers, production staff), and Asia — India, Nepal and the Philippines (certified welders with Persian Gulf experience in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain). Brazilian machinery operators are supplied exclusively by SPEKANOMA in Latvia.
What if a worker doesn't fit?
If a worker doesn't fit in the first 2-week trial period, we replace them at no extra cost. It's in our interest that you stay satisfied and come back next season.
Do we have to handle taxes and documents?
No. All employment administration — contracts, wages, taxes, holidays, sick leave — is on us. You receive one invoice per month and pay it. It's like any other service purchase.
What language do workers speak?
Our workers typically speak English. They don't know Latvian, so on-site communication happens in English or through our point of contact. In agriculture, construction, and manufacturing, language is rarely a barrier — professional experience is what matters.
How short or long can engagements be?
We handle seasonal projects (3–8 months in agriculture and construction) and long-term (multiple years in manufacturing) cooperation. The minimum engagement is 3 months — driven by recruitment, documentation, and accommodation logistics; shorter engagements are not economically viable. The specific period is fixed in the contract.
Are workers legally employed?
Yes, 100%. All our workers are officially employed by SIA "Las Palmas" with Latvian employment contracts, and all taxes and social contributions are paid to the Latvian state. We hold work placement licence No. 47/2024 from the State Employment Agency of Latvia (NVA).
Do you provide worker accommodation?
Depending on the project location and cooperation model. We often help arrange housing; sometimes the client provides it (for instance, a farm with available housing). We discuss this case by case.
How does payment and invoicing work?
We issue an invoice once a month based on actual hours or days worked. Payment terms are typically 14 to 30 days. All transactions are documented transparently.
Can I see candidate profiles before approval?
Yes. Before a worker arrives on site you receive their profile — experience, skills, language proficiency. If a candidate doesn't fit, we find someone else.
